I’m a retired painter.

Sometimes I find myself reflecting on a life in and after laboring at the trade and within the trade union movement in Seattle Washington and in the “other” Washington, Washington, DC.

I’m also fortunate to live part of the time in Las Galeras, RD.

My friend Christian says that our house on the little hill outside the village of Las Galeras is “…not paradise, but I do believe that you can see it from here.”

I’m inclined to agree with him.

Most of my honest friends in the labor movement here in the “Other Washington” believe that inertia is the most powerful influence on the labor unions today. Again, I’m inclined to agree.

But at the same time I know it needn’t be so.

I wonder now: what next?

Bill
